Too Faced Melted Kisses Holiday 2014

I am back once again for my first holiday set review which is the Too Faced Melted Kisses lipstick set.

This was only released in Sephora Malaysia yesterday while in the US it was released October 2014. The packaging looks very festive as you can see. These lipsticks by the way are only mini sizes. It contains 4 shades which are: Melted Nude, Melted Peony, Melted Fuschia and Melted Berry. The lipstick also has a velvety applicator that's why there's no need for a lip brush.

A picture of a clean velvet applicator:

Swatches of the lipsticks:

Positive:
- comes with an applicator
- travel size
- packaging is adorable

Neutral:
- the shades are okay

Negative:
- it should be called a lip tint and not a lipstick
- price is steep
- tint doesn't show the true color not unless tried with a lip concealer/neautralizer

My thoughts:

I am confused on to why it is called a lipstick. I think it's more of a tinted lip gloss than a lipstick for me. It's very shiny and liquid-y. Lipsticks are supposed to be creamy hahaha but that's just me. I only liked the Melted Peony and Melted Berry. The other two are so-so for me. Good thing, I didn't bought the full-sized lipsticks because it will be a waste for me if I did.

Where to Buy: Sephora
Price: RM 99
Will you buy it again: Perhaps no, way too expensive plus I didn't like how it transferred to my lips. Not a fan of glossy items.

Review and Swatches: Too Faced À La Mode Eyes Palette

I bought this palette last month. I was supposed to give this out as a gift but I told myself this is a limited edition palette (who am I kidding? I loveeeee anything LE), hence, I decided to keep it for myself because I might not get the chance to own one.

I was supposed to buy the UD Palette but I find the colors too bold. I can't use it on a day to day basis...plus I am not a makeup artist so it would be a waste to buy that. I bought this one instead.

Packaging is gorgeous. I threw away the box but it was one of my basis for buying this one (HAHHAAHA...i know I'm not alone when it comes to packaging).

Colors are to die for! Pigmentation is great. When I first used the eyeshadow, I didn't need any primer at all and I only used one swipe for each color and the payoff was gorgeous.

I want to show you a picture of the eyeshadows up close:

St. Tropez

Riviera

Cannes, Soleil, Jardin and Còte d' Azur

La Croisette

Monacco and De La Mer

The palette contains 9 eyeshadows and you can create 3 looks from the palette which are Day, Classic and Fashion.

I want to show you the swatches for the 3 suggested looks:

Of the 3 looks, Day is my personal favorite as I always use the 3 eyeshadows. It is very wearable for office makeup since it looks natural. It also looks very dainty.

Product Rundown:
Product: Too Faced À La Mode Eyes
Price: RM119
Where to Buy: Sephora

Pros:
- lovely pigmentation
- great color combination
- cute packaging

Cons:
- bulky packaging
- a little bit on the pearl/shimmer side but the shimmer is subtle. If you like matte eyeshadows then this might not be the palette for you

Overall:

I'm very much satisfied with the palette. Definitely worth the price as the pigmentation of the eyeshadows are good.

Review and Swatches: Revlon Parfumerie Nail Varnish

Hello ladies! I'm back to updating my blog once again :) I am so happy to be back!

I recently discovered this wonderful product called the Revlon Parfumerie Nail Varnish. I know it has been out in the market for quite sometime now and I tried it out. I've been intrigued by this product since everyone was raving on how good it smelled.

I saw this available at Watsons here in Manila and I bought this shade in peach and it is called the Apricot Nectar. It retails for PHP 325 (RM 23.21). I got addicted with the scent of this varnish. It smells like bubble gum!! I also love the shade. After testing this shade, I went again to buy two more colors which are Sunlit Grass (yellow) and the Lime Basil (Green). There are other shades to choose from and the SA told me that the fruity scents were the one that really smells amazing. I was supposed to buy the brown shade as it was chocolate scented but I said to myself I don't wear brown nail varnish that much that's why I opted to leave it.

Here's the break down of the product:

Name: Revlon Parfumerie Nail Varnish
What is it: Nail Varnish/Nail Polish
Price: PHP325
Where to buy: Watsons or any drugstore

PROs
- smells good
- wide range of colors
- cheaper than other nail varnish brands

CONs
- chips off easily (without top coat it only lasted a day)

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

I have been wanting to write this review for quite some time now and it took me a few weeks to write this one from the moment I got the palette at Sephora. By far, I have to say, this is my favorite out of the 3 Naked Palettes that Urban Decay launched.

I needed to try it out myself to see whether the palette was worthy of a good review and I have to say, this palette deserves more than a good review. The box includes the UD Naked 3 palette and a sample of the 4 primers which original, sin, eden and anti-aging.

As per the palette itself, I like that it has rose gold hues in it (more of the pink rose gold hues). It is completely different from the first two palettes which were more neutral in color (brown bronze colors). The shadows are highly pigmented. If you wear it with a primer, it won't crease.

My favorite colors from this palette are Dust, Burnout, Buzz, Limit and Trick. I love that it is almost Spring-Summer and the colors are just in time for the season. The colors are just absolutely stunning and for me, it works well because I have a pink undertone. It flatters my skin well. I just don't know if it works with Olive undertone and yellow undertones.

A con that I can say I have with this palette is maybe the brush which is included. It would have been better if they made the brush similar to the UD Naked 2 Palette. I like the blending brush tip with the UD Naked 2. This one has a double sided brush with a flat brush at the other end and the other end is like a rounded flat brush which I really don't use. Another con is the sample primers included in the UD Naked 3 Palette. I was expecting that it would be like the travel size primer which was the same with UD Naked or the travel size UD lipgloss which was included in UD Naked 2. It would have been better if they included a travel size primer.

Overall, I love love love this palette. I am a Urban Decay customer ever since and this is one of my favorites from Urban Decay and I would recommend it to people who have pink undertones like me.

Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 versus BH Cosmetics 88 Shimmer Palette

I received my UD Naked Palette 2 last February and now is the only time that I wrote about it. I've always been a fan of Urban Decay. I love their products. I was ecstatic when I heard last December that they would be releasing a sequel to the Naked Palette. I tried ordering several times online last December but it was always out of stock. By the time January came, they've already released hundreds of stocks because of the overwhelming demand from all over the world. I got mine from Sephora.com.

Anyways, if you're a follower, I'm a makeup junkie. I love makeup. Any kind would do, drugstore or branded, name it. Last year, I hoarded a lot of stuff from BH Cosmetics. I love BH Cosmetics. Specially their eye shadow palettes.

Going back, so, I ordered the UD Naked Palette 2, as expected, the product did not fail me. Here are some pictures of the Palette:

UD Naked Palette 2

UD Lip Junkie in Naked

What I love about the Naked 2 is that it comes with the travel size Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Naked. The gloss is flavored. It tastes mint-y. The eye shadows are highly pigmented. Believe me when I say it is pigmented. Even if you scratch yourself with tons of soap and water, it won't come off. I had a hard time rubbing off the blackout eye shadow when it smeared on my bed and my hands.

The down side of having the palette is that I have the BH Cosmetics Shimmer Palette. The shadows that I oh so love from the Naked Palette are almost identical to the ones that are in BH. I said earlier, the eye shadows from BH Cosmetics are highly pigmented. It gives the same effect with or without the primer.

BH Cosmetics Shimmer Palette
On the picture below is a comparison of swatches from both Urban Decay and BH Cosmetics. Pistol and Chopper are identical to the shimmer eye shadows from BH Cosmetics.

swatch comparison of Naked Palette 2 and BH Cosmetics 88 Shimmer Palette

UD Naked Palette 2 retails at $50 while the BH Cosmetics 88 Shimmer Palette is around $19.95. It all depends on the consumer but for me, I'd go for the Shimmer Palette if you're on a budget.
