Movie Review: The Great Gatsby

Title: The Great Gatsby
Cast: Leonardo Di Caprio (Jay Gatsby), Tobey Maguire (Nick Carraway), Carey Mulligan (Daisy Buchanan), Joel Edgerton (Tom Buchanan), Elizabeth Debicki (Jordan Baker), Isla Fisher (Myrtle Wilson)
Genre: Drama Romance

The movie revolves around the story of Nick Carraway, a yale graduate who rents a house in Long Island where he resides near the mansion of the mysterious Jay Gatsby.  He visited his cousin Daisy who is married to Tom Buchanan. He then meets Daisy's friend Jordan Baker. Jordan asks about Nick about his stay in Long Island and they discover that Nick and Jay Gatsby are neighbors. One day, the mysterious Jay Gatsby invited Nick Carraway to his party and then the story begins.

The movie is very true to the story. If you've read the book, you will not be disappointed because it sticks very much to the book. Baz Luhrmann made a very astonishing movie. Very pleasing to the eye and it incorporates the whimsical effect that Baz Luhrmann gives to his audience. A little bit disappointed on the part where Nick and Jordan's love story evolved because it was not explained in the movie. The whole focus of the film was about Daisy, Jay, and Tom.

Overall, it is a must-see film. It makes you love the Jazz age and the flappers. I would give it a 4.5 out 5 stars.
