MAC x Disney Maleficent Collection for Summer 2014

Definitely looking forward to this collection. I'm very much thrilled and I cannot wait until Summer.

Movie Review: 47 Ronin

Last Friday, Gino and I decided to watch a movie at Suria, KLCC. Initially we wanted to watch Frozen because we both have not seen the movie yet. Anyways, sadly, Frozen was not showing at Suria anymore and so we opted to watch an English movie. The options we had were The Hobbit, Tale of the Dinosaurs and 47 Ronin. We decided that we watch 47 Ronin instead of the Hobbit because we haven't seen the first hobbit movie.

The movie revolves around Kai (Keannu Reeves). They call him a half creature because he is not of pure Japanese origin. He was adopted by a Land Lord and growing up he served the land lord together with the other samurai. He is not a Samurai though. Anyways, gist of the story, there were 47 Ronins who wanted to seek revenge for the untimely death of their lord. They succeeded in seeking revenge but the king sentenced them to harakiri themselves because it was not right to seek revenge.

My Review: Comparing it to Samurai X the movie, this one is a bad adaptation of Japanese culture. For some reason I find it very "Hollywood" with the cinematics and the story. I feel that it lacks the essence of the simplicity of how Japanese are. Even with the costumes, it was very grand and elaborate. They said that the movie was based on real facts about the 47 Ronins who committed suicide but the movie version already twisted the story because they mixed it with the love story of Kai and Mika. I felt that the movie relied much on CG effects that's why I felt it was un-organic. The war scene was also nothing to look forward to. I'll give this movie a 2 out of 5.

Product Review: MAC Studio Fix Powder

Together with my Hada Labo Haul, I also went to MAC Cosmetics here in Kuala Lumpur to buy something. I wanted to buy the limited edition Riri Woo lipstick because back in October it was still available. I thought it was still available but sadly the only ones left are the eyeshadows. So anyways, instead of buying the lipstick, I bought the Studio Fix Powder from MAC.

In Manila, it costs twice the price here in KL. I really don't know why makeup is so expensive in the Philippines. I love shopping here in KL. The attendant said that if I bring 6 empty containers of MAC products, they'll give me a lipstick for free. They have so many rebates and freebies here in Malaysia unlike in the Philippines.

Anyway, I bought the powder because I'm pretty much not satisfied with the powder that I'm using because it does not fit my skin tone. I am so in love with this powder. At first I thought it was just a regular powder but I love the coverage of this studio fix powder. It feels like you are wearing foundation but you're not. I should not be surprised because I paid a lot for this and it did not fail my expectations. It exceeds much of it. I just don't like the fact that there are so many imitation products of MAC. The fake ones are pretty much the same outside but of course, quality of the products are not the same.

This one costs roughly around PHP 1,708. I know in Manila it sells around P2,000 or more.

MAC is awesome. If you have a bit of money to spend, I'd say you buy this one because of the quality of the product. It is expensive but it is worth all your money.

Product Review: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Make-up Remover

This is part two of the review of the Hada Labo products that I bought over the weekend.

This one is the make up remover from Hada Labo.

It's a gel like liquid that you put on your face to remove the make up. I bought this because I fell in love with the Face Wash.

You don't need to use a cotton in using this. All you need is to get an ample amount of solution on your hands, make it a little damp with water and then use circular motions in rubbing it on your face and afterwards, rinse it off with water. This is not step one in the Hada Labo face care products. There is a step one product which I did not buy because it's actually the same with the face wash.

My verdict with this one is if you have the money to splurge on your face, you can get this one because it works well with the other Hada Labo products.

Product Review: Hada Labo Super Hyalauronic Acid Moisturizing Face Wash

I was at the Mid Valley Megamall last Saturday with Gino and we were just wandering around. Mid Valley Megamall is a huge mall here in Kuala Lumpur. I still think SM Megamall in Manila is bigger than Mid Valley Megamall here KL. Anyways, the very first shop we went to was Guardian. It's sort of like Watsons. It sells similar products to what Watsons sell and I stumbled upon this familiar facial cleanser that I've heard so much about in the Philippines.

So upon seeing it, I bought it because it's cheaper here and I want to know what the buzz is about.

This is the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Mosturizing Face Wash. When I was in Manila, I heard so much promotion about this item but it costs roughly P950 in Manila. I saw this in Guardian and it only costs around RM 44.80. Roughly around P600. So when I went home, I immediately tried  the product and this is worth all the money.

According to the label it says here

There, it's pretty much self explanatory but I have to tell you that this product really works wonders. Specially when combined with the other Hada Labo products. It makes your skin look like the Japanese or Korean people. It's becomes smooth and glowing. It also makes your skin look younger. I've only been using it for two days now but I already see the difference. It does not make your face look dehydrated unlike when you use soap or other facial cleansers. It really makes your skin look younger and fresh.

My Verdict: if you have money to splurge on facial cleansers, I recommend you buy this product.

First Look at the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

It's been a long time since I blogged and because it's our Christmas vacation, well, I have time to write! :)

Anyways, it's technically my second day here in Malaysia. I rode the plane last Monday from Manila going to KL at around 9 pm and our flight got delayed. I arrived here at around 1am and settled down at home at 3am. Yesterday, Gino went to KLCC to buy me some stuff and when he went home, he bought me my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I'm so ecstatic and I've been waiting to try this one.

So he bought it from Sephora at Suria. This is the bag.

Inside the bag is the palette. It also came with a free Sephora card.

Okay, this card, you can use it at any sephora branches in Singapore and in Malaysia. 1 SG = 1 point and 5 RM = 3 points. You have to accumulate 250 points to get a 10% on your next purchase.

So here it is! The coveted Urban Decay Naked Palette 3.

Inside the box is the UD Naked 3 and a sample booklet of the Urban Decay primers.

The four primers are original primer, sin, Eden and the anti-aging primer. It says in the book that it can last for a week.

So that's it for now. I will show you the swatches in my next blog post.

Wedding Preps, Christmas, almost but not quite

I've been super busy with work. I missed blogging. Saw my last entry and it was dated last May. I've been juggling with work and with our wedding preparations. Gino is now in Malaysia. He's been there since October. I've been dealing with twice the amount of stress ever since he went there. I've been doing progress with my wedding preparations. Almost there but still not quite. We still lack some suppliers. Anyway, I was bored yesterday and I decided to look for a card for my bridesmaids. I found a template online and I printed it. It goes with our summer theme and it fits perfectly 😄

I also found some guest cards to match with our summer inspired theme.

Movie Review: The Great Gatsby

Title: The Great Gatsby
Cast: Leonardo Di Caprio (Jay Gatsby), Tobey Maguire (Nick Carraway), Carey Mulligan (Daisy Buchanan), Joel Edgerton (Tom Buchanan), Elizabeth Debicki (Jordan Baker), Isla Fisher (Myrtle Wilson)
Genre: Drama Romance

The movie revolves around the story of Nick Carraway, a yale graduate who rents a house in Long Island where he resides near the mansion of the mysterious Jay Gatsby.  He visited his cousin Daisy who is married to Tom Buchanan. He then meets Daisy's friend Jordan Baker. Jordan asks about Nick about his stay in Long Island and they discover that Nick and Jay Gatsby are neighbors. One day, the mysterious Jay Gatsby invited Nick Carraway to his party and then the story begins.

The movie is very true to the story. If you've read the book, you will not be disappointed because it sticks very much to the book. Baz Luhrmann made a very astonishing movie. Very pleasing to the eye and it incorporates the whimsical effect that Baz Luhrmann gives to his audience. A little bit disappointed on the part where Nick and Jordan's love story evolved because it was not explained in the movie. The whole focus of the film was about Daisy, Jay, and Tom.

Overall, it is a must-see film. It makes you love the Jazz age and the flappers. I would give it a 4.5 out 5 stars.

Movie Review: Side Effects

Title: Side Effects
Cast: Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones
Genre: Horror, Thriller, Crime

***Disclaimer***

This entry might have a lot of spoilers so I must warn you.

Since it's summer vacation, I have nothing to do but watch and watch a lot of movies and shows and I stumbled upon this movie called Side Effects. I'm not the type of person to watch horror flicks because I'm a scared-y cat but I saw that Channing Tatum was one of the lead in this movie...hence, I gave it a shot.

The movie is about a woman called Em (Rooney Mara) who is married to Martin (Channing Tatum) who has been in prison for about 4 years. The time came that Martin is about to leave the prison and live a normal life with his wife. Then one day, Emily decided to ride the car and crash the car onto a wall. She was then sent to the hospital for minor injuries. With that, the doctor on call, Dr. Jonathan Banks (Jude Law) talks to her if she was suicidal or if she was thinking of committing suicide. Emily said she was fine and then she said she needed to get out of the hospital because she needed to work. The condition for Dr. Banks to release her was for her (Emily) to take therapy sessions with Dr. Banks outside the hospital. When they met outside the hospital they had therapy and Dr. Banks gave her prescription medicines.

To cut the story short, Dr. Banks prescribed Emily some medicines that caused her abnormal behavior thus putting Dr. Banks' career in jeopardy thus came the title Side Effects.

The movie for me is a good movie. It's a crime thriller and the story evolves. It has a lot of twists and you'll never guess some of the plot or the motive of each character.

Overall, I think this is a fun movie and I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Food trip Wednesday

So today is actually a coding day for Gino's car. Apparently, the summer heat made everything worse today because I ate a lot. Even if we didn't have any car we went to different places and ate a whole bunch.

The best was when we ate at Chicken Charlie. We went to Greenfield District branch.

Bulalo Kind of Day

Yesterday, the weather was gloomy and it was raining all day...I was craving Bulalo and Gino had work so I had to wait until 3pm for him to finish. And then at 4, we decided to go on a trip to the land of Bulalo - Tagaytay!

We ended up eating at Leslie's. I was so full yesterday...we order Bulalo, Pork Sisig and Cheese and Corn sizzling plate. Happy Tummy, Happy Couple :)

Movie Review: Jack the Giant Slayer

Gino and I decided to watch yesterday. We went to Rockwell to watch a movie. We weren't quite decided if it'll be Jack or Silver Lining Playbook but bottom line, we ended up watching Jack.

Overall, it's a nice adaptation of Jack and the beanstalk. It's great for kids because it's not the intense gore and action kind of movie but you get the essence of it. It's also the kind that adults will not get bored of. I thought I'll be bored but I watched the whole film without yawning.

Another Occular

Today, we went to 3 different locations: Encenada in Mandaluyong, Blue Leaf in McKinley, and the Richmonde Hotel at Eastwood...got so disappointed that we travelled all the way to Libis only to find out that the office for Richmonde was closed :( so much for gas and all...

Next week we plan to go to Bel Air in Laguna and Nuvali to check out the venues. Got disappointed that Blue Leaf is fully booked for all Saturdays of December...

I wasn't able to take a picture of Blue because there were 3 different events taking place at that time and we were just so lucky that Ms. Hazel was very accomodating.

Anyways here's a picture of Encenada in Mandaluyong

Wedding Preps

I've been totally busy preparing for the wedding that my schedule has been so packed for the past few weeks. Ever since he proposed, my life has been upside down. Meeting schedules, trying to find time to relax, giving time to family and friends. I've lost balance. All I have been doing is preparing for our wedding.

It's still months away but every girl dreams to have a very nice wedding. I need to go back in shape and I need to go to the gym to lose all the fats I added last year. We also need to book a wedding reception fast because we had a hard time booking for a church and it's only January. We've been attending bridal fairs and we still are a bit dazed and overwhelmed with all the wedding fiasco.

Anyways, I've been browsing the web and I found the perfect outfit for my flower girls.

That's how I imagine my little girls would be...hahaha very cute ^____^
