Movie Review: Transformers Age of Extinction

I'm back! Finally have the time to update my blog. It's been so crazy lately that my body clock is not functioning correctly. Not that I'm on a different time zone but my husband's shift is on a different time and it affected me as well that's why I haven't been blogging lately.

Anyhooo...

Last Thursday, we were able to watch the 4th installment to the Transformers Franchise which is Age of Extinction. We were supposed to watch it at Suria but for some reason everybody was there to watch and all seats were selling fast. We then moved to Bukit Bintang and watched at the Pavillion Cinema.

We managed to get a free Optimus Prime Magnet. We bought the popcorn and the drinks bundle and the lady said we can choose to get Bumble Bee or Optimus Prime. We got Optimus Prime.

***Spoiler Alert***

Okay, if you haven't seen the movie I suggest you skip this part...

The story is nothing new to the previous movies. It continues from where the last story ended but the plot seems nothing new. The same thing, Auto-bots and Decepticons are in the planet but this time the humans do not work with the Auto-bots. They hunt them and their main target is to find the location of Optimus Prime. Same plot about alien invasion with the twist of having the "seed" in play.

What I liked about the movie:

As far as CGI is concerned, there is no doubt that this movies is seamless. It gelt like the robots were actually there. Great job on the CGI aspect.

What I don't like about the movie:

I didn't like the story. I think it was poorly written. There's no adrenaline rush to it unlike the previous Transformer movies.

Poor acting. I didn't felt the actors connect with their audience. When you watch a good movie, you should feel the emotions of the characters. It was just like watching a rotten egg. Good exterior but rotten and smelly inside.

The story was too long. I felt there were scenes that were like "What? Why is this fight scene happening again? Oh yeah...never mind..."

My Overall Rating

4.5 out of 10 (just because it had good CGI but other than that, there's nothing to rave about the movie)

Have you seen the movie? What are your thoughts about it?

MAC Heroine...is it worth the hype?

I am currently obsessing on lip products for the past few weeks. Before leaving Manila, I bought a lot of MAC lipsticks. Panic buying? Well...not really. Okay, let me re-phrase my first line...I am currently obsessed with MAC lippies. HA HA HA :))

Anyways, I bought the MAC Heroine before leaving Manila. Pearl from the Sassyfabshop had it on-hand. She is one of my trusted online sellers in the Philippines. All of her items are authentic and most are cheaper than the ones malls.

Ever since Heroine became a permanent shade, everyone got all crazy about it. It was a limited edition shade before. Everybody in the US were going crazy about this lipstick shade. I had to get one to see if it was something I'd wear.

To explain why I bought this shade, I have been a fan of Shaaanxo from YouTube and I love how she wears her lipsticks. Shaaanxo is not American by the way. She lives in New Zealand. She doesn't mind wearing bold shades of lipsticks and I find the colors wearable for her. If you put it this way, like if you wear a pale lilac lipstick and you make it work with your makeup, it becomes wearable. That made me buy the heroine shade.

So the formulation of the lipstick is a matte. Mattes aren't easily glide-on formulations. I have to wear a lip balm to hydrate my lips first so that my lips won't look chappy.

That is how the lipstick looks on me. Up close, it looks really purple and I think the shade works for my skin tone.

That is how it looks like with full make up ensemble. To be honest, this look reminds me so much of Lorde, the singer. The one who sang Royals. Anyway, you know that Lorde had a tie-up with MAC Cosmetics and they released a limited edition lipstick called Pure Heroine and a black eyeliner. I think pure heroine is a darker version of heroine.

I find the lipstick shade wearable when you incorporate it with the right makeup. I would wear it but not on a daily basis. It's definitely not a MLBB shade. HA HA HA
I like how rich the pigment is. The only downside I can think of is the application of the color.

PROS
- I like the pigmentation
- It's a wearable kind of shade

CONS
- hard to apply
- price is steep
- you can buy a drugstore dupe for this shade at 1/4 the price

MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection

Hello Ladies! Sorry for being MIA. I had to juggle my schedule for errands and after a few weeks, I am finally back here in Malaysia.

Anyways, I was surprised last night because my husband bought me the Limited Edition MAC Alluring Aquatic Lipstick and Blush. In my knowledge, I know this was not released in Manila. I love the packaging of the items.

It has the pop-up water like design. It's so lovely. Prior to my husband buying this...I was actually hesitant because a lot of youtubers/vloggers were saying they were quite disappointed with the collection because the products were not  as good. They recommended to buy the lipstick which is the Enchanted One. I told my husband to look for it at MAC and he bought it for me. The blush was just a bonus.

I love the packaging. It's so gorgeous.

This is the Echanted One. It's actually a nude type of lipstick. I tried it on and I consider this a MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade.

My lips without lipstick

My lips with the MAC Enchanted One.

The formula of the lipstick is Matte. A bit dry for my liking but since the shade is nice, I would wear it.

This is the blush in See Me, Hear Me. The packaging is gorgeous. It only has the water like embellishment on top but at the bottom, there's none.

The color is a rosey-mauve color. I actually don't like the formula of this one. It took me 3 swipes on my finger before I can see the pigment. I'll let you know my thoughts in the coming days when I play with it but overall, I like the lipstick.

First Day High: How to look your best on the first day of school x Giveaway

It's already June and you know what that means? It's time to go back to school! Ha Ha Ha! I've graduated from college 8 years ago..hahahaha :D (I'm so old already) but all I can say is that college was one of the best years I enjoyed in my life. It was the first time I met boys, well not really...hahaha :D Let me re-phrase that....it was the first time I had male classmates because I came from an exclusive girl school. I experienced being late in class, cut class (hahaha well, everyone goes through that phase) and I had a taste of the so-called "welcome to the real world rookie."

I'll give you some tips and tricks so that your first day will not be as heavy and bombarded as I experienced it. lol anyways...here is a list of my tips and tricks for you guys:

Prior to your first day of class

1. Prepare the things that you need for class - It is so much of a hassle if you go to school (especially on your first day) if you are not prepared. First impressions last, so make a good impression on your classmates and your professors by being prepared. Professors are forgiving on the first day but you know, your peers may not be. Prepare your essentials like don't forget your wallet, your handkerchief, brush/comb, grooming kit, etc.

2. Make sure you get ample amount of sleep - Eye bags are your worst enemy and you wouldn't want to have heavy bags during your first day. Make sure to get a lot of sleep the night before your first day of school.

On your first day

1. Remember to eat your breakfast - Breakfast is very important. It's like the gas of the car. If you don't eat your breakfast you won't have energy for the day. Make sure that you eat your breakfast before going to school to have sufficient energy.

2. Bring your Kikay Kit - It's always nice to look fresh and energized throughout the day so bring your Kikay Kit with you. lipstick, lipbalm, pressed powder, cheek blush, handsanitizer, lotion, hair brush and a perfume should be your essentials in your kit.

3. Keep yourself Hydrated - Drink water all the time to make yourself hydrated. Also make sure that you use the bathroom to flush away the toxins in your body. Water is essential for a nice glow throughout the day.

4. Bring your Rainy weather essentials - It's already the start of the rainy season so make sure to bring your jackets and umbrellas. If you commute, it's always nice to bring an extra shirt or leggings just in case you get wet while you commute. Back when I was going to school, I used to ride the MRT and the LRT from our house to my school. I always had a folding umbrella with me so that I won't get wet.

5. Smile - A smile is the best asset any girl can have so always remember to smile. It's a bulletproof way to make friends. No one wants to make friends with  Ms. Oscar the Grouch.

With that...to make your first day more memorable (for those who are still studying...that is), I've decided to make my first giveaway! Yey!! Anyways, to add to your kikay kit collection, one lucky winner will take this home and all you have to do is to tell me your routines or special tricks when it comes to your first day (whether you go to school or it is your first day of work....this is open to anyone...yes! internationally). Comment in the section below. Your comment on the comment section entitles you to an entry. I will random pick the winner and will announce it on June 30 (Monday).

Items for the giveaway include:
Mr. Moustache Pouch
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Auburn

FOTD

I got bored awhile ago and I was browsing Instagram and saw Kylie Jenner's account. I think of all the siblings, Kylie has the prettiest face. I love her makeup most especially. It's very simple but it's very seductive. I like how they do her lips.

I wanted to copy her look but I was really not in the mood to perfectly copy it and I ended up doing this...hahaha :))

Anyways...I'll do another one and I'll see to it that it kinda resembles her makeup. I'm actually proud of this makeup because I used my drugstore items here.

Face Prep: Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre
Face Primer: The Balm Time Balm mixed with Sephora CC
Foundation: Garnier BB Cream in Natural

Angelina Jolie inspired makeup

I just want to share with you this FOTD. Since Angelina Jolie is all over the news now because of Maleficent, I saw this picture of her and tried to make an inspirational look

This was a recent picture of her during the premier of Maleficent. She's wearing a mauve-y taupe-y kind of look. She has brown hair and I have black. I wanted to re-create the smokey eye effect but I used purple, pink and black shades instead of brown, grey and black. Her lip color is also nude which compliments her over all look, I wanted to make my lips bright and used a bright pink lipstick with a blue undertone.

Eyes: Sephora Desert Sun Palette
Eyebrow: Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate
Contour: Sephora Desert Sun Palette
Blush: Sephora Desert Sun Palette
Highlight: The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer
Foundation: RCMA foundation Palette

Can't wait!!!

I'm just ranting now...it's been a very busy week since last week...the horror of fixing papers...it's really horrendous not to mention the hot temperature here in Manila is adding to my headaches.

Anyways...can't wait to go back to Malaysia and be re-united with my husband. Being away for too long makes me a little sad and lonely. I'm not a clingy wife but we just got married last March and technically we are still in the "honeymoon stage".

I am starting to pack my things. A little bit frustrated because I need to select the makeup that I have to bring. I'm just worried that my lipsticks might melt here in Manila. Actually, one of my limited edition MAC lippie melted already. I placed it inside the refrigirator...hoping that it would go back to being firm.

I'll try to post as much entries as I can while I'm here but for now I need to start packing.

Monthly Favorites: May Edition

Hello lovely ladies! Yeeeeeep! It's the first day of June...where did the time go? It went by so fast I hardly noticed it. Anyways, it is yet again time for my Monthly favorites (leaning more to beauty products) and I haven't used much cosmetic items that I really really loved except for the things that I will post here.

I only have five beauty products that I've been using mostly for this month. Other products are staples in my stash and I think I don't need to re-post the products that I've previously posted.

1. RCMA Foundation Palette from Digital Traincase - I've been on the search for a very very good foundation. I love my Sephora foundation but I'm running out of it already because I've been using it constantly. I came across Digital Traincase - one of the most trusted online shops in the Philippines; and I saw that they were carrying the RCMA Foundation Palette. I will do a separate review of this palette in the coming entries because it deserves a spot in my blog. These babies are highly pigmented and when you wear it, it feels like skin. So it's a thumbs up for me. I was supposed to use this on a make-up gig this May for a wedding and do the makeup of one of my friends but the ETA date didn't reach the target day. Anyways, I'm overly in-love with this palette. At first, i didn't know how to use it. I thought that the foundation was to creamy and I was using the wrong shade for my skin tone but I found the perfect shade for me and I've been using it ever since. It is a good palette for make-up artists because of the quality and the reasonable price. Get yours at Digital Traincase :)

2. Sephora Desert Sunset Palette - This palette was actually a gift from my sister last Christmas and it was only now that I played with the palette. It is not as pigmented as the Urban Decay eyeshadows and it often creases but it is workable with a primer. I actually used this on one of my FOTD which is still in the draft section of my blog.

3. Anastasia Beverlyhills Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate - I have a separate entry which you can click here. I love this product. It replaced all the products that I use for my eyebrow. I heard that it is already sold-out in the US and that they are releasing new shades because some are complaining that the shade range is not as wide.

4. The Balm Time Balm Face Primer - This is a silicone based face primer and I like mixing it with my Sephora CC Cream. I've been using this for the whole month of May and surprisingly, it worked for me. Not much creasing but I needed to re-touch on my T-Zone area.

5. MAC Playland Collection lipstick in Happy-Go-Lucky - super love this lipstick. I don't know with you guys but I like using bright lipsticks specially this Summer. It is the epitome color (I don't know how to describe it well haha) for my Summer 2014. It is vibrant and it makes me happy. Love the color. It is limited edition and I am happy that I was able to purchase it.

What were your Favorites for the month of May?
